British-Irish Lions 1930 Vintage Rugby Shirt

The British-Irish lions keep the historical values of rugby alive. In response to the absence of a team representing the British Isles, British and Irish Lions have emerged. This team unites the best rugby players in the British Isles to compete against the great teams, mainly from the southern hemisphere.

This tradition, which began in the 19th century, is still in force; After the Lions left for their last tour in 2017. Everything started in 1888, when a group of English players decided to go on a tour of Australia and New Zealand. So they invited their Scottish and Welsh colleagues. Therefore, they could not represent England and were not recognized by the Federation; The tour, however, was carried out with the support of a trademark. The first trip without Irish players was a great success. In 1899, the Irish players were recorded, from which emerged after the independence of Ireland in 1922, a British and an Irish lion, representing two states. It is even more prestigious for British players to play for the lions, even more important than running aground for their own land.

The lions wore dark blue clothes from 1910 to 1938. The lions have been called that since the tour of 1924. Our Vintage T-shirt from the British-Irish Lions reveals the model of the tour from 1930, when the shield with the three golden, rampant lions was introduced. This pole caused some controversy as the tour took place in New Zealand. The local team was already configured as the All Blacks and both models were confused. The tradition in rugby is that the local team changes gear in a match and thus for the first time all blacks were white.

The Rugby Polo of the Lions provides a true reflection of the history of the oval ball; So fans of British and Irish Lions can wear it in style. It is a polo neck model made of 100% high quality, heavy cotton.
